These photographs of boxers were made in the athletic field houses of the Chicago Park District. The buildings function as centers for social and community activity as well as for sport. In between intervals of sparring, jumping rope, and pounding on heavy bags, these boxers have brief moments of rest, stillness, and introspection. My goal is to portray these periods of rest as contemplative moments between childhood and adulthood.
