This series of photographs and statements show an unintended community of people whose lives and work are intertwined with the Chicago Housing Authority's Plan For Transformation, the ambitious and controversial effort to demolish public housing high-rises and replace them with mixed-income townhouses. One person's livelihood often meant another person's despair. What I found in this small cross-section of people was a ring of workers who were selfless and well-intentioned, evasive and nonplussed, optimistic and opportunistic, and people who needed to make a living.
